Indian PM Modi arrives in the Maldives for official State Visit
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the Maldives on Friday afternoon for a two-day State Visit, marking his first trip to the island nation since commencing his third term in office and first in President Dr. Muizzu’s administration.
PM Modi was welcomed at Velana International Airport by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and senior government officials this morning.
This high-level engagement comes at the invitation of President Dr. Muizzu and coincides with the 60th anniversary of Maldives’ independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and the Maldives.
During his stay, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Muizzu, witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and jointly inaugurate development projects supported by India.
These discussions are expected to cover key areas such as infrastructure, economic cooperation, and regional security.
