A fire broke out in an apartment in Hulhumale’ Phase 1 on Saturday, causing extensive damage to the property but resulting in no injuries, according to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

The fire was reported from the third apartment on the second floor of the 94th flat.

The unit, which was home to 11 foreign nationals, was severely affected by smoke and flames.

Photos shared by MNDF on social media show that the apartment was damaged beyond repair.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby units.

However, the cause of the fire remains unclear and is currently under investigation.
