A woman sustained injuries on Saturday after being struck by a motorcycle while using a zebra crossing in Hulhumale’ Phase I.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident occurred on Badeechaa Hingun and was reported at approximately 2:16 p.m.

The 59-year-old Maldivian woman was crossing the road when she was hit by a motorcycle traveling in a north-south direction.

Police confirmed that the rider, a Bangladeshi national, did not possess a valid license to operate the motorcycle.

Authorities have since impounded the vehicle, and an investigation is underway.

The injured woman was taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital for treatment.
