President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized the importance of empowering youth and strengthening national systems as the Maldives prepares to meet the challenges of a rapidly aging population.

In a message posted on ‘X’ to mark World Population Day, the President stated that by 2062, one-fifth of the Maldivian population is projected to be over the age of 65.

He stressed the need to ensure that young people are equipped to navigate this demographic shift.

As we commemorate #WorldPopulationDay, let us reflect on the importance of ensuring equal opportunity and well-being for all,

The President stated

He outlined his administration’s priorities, including expanding access to reproductive healthcare, enhancing education, strengthening child healthcare, and ensuring adequate housing.

These efforts, he said, are essential to securing the future social and economic wellbeing of all Maldivians.

In light of this, this administration remains dedicated to shaping a future where the youth are equipped to embrace both the opportunities and challenges presented by an aging society,
