VP Latheef attends dinner hosted by Spanish King and Queen
Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef attended an official royal dinner hosted by Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, marking a high-level diplomatic engagement on the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4).
The event, held at the historic Real Alcázar de Sevilla, brought together heads of state and government from across the globe.
The royal dinner was hosted in honour of the international delegates participating in the FfD4, which is being held in Seville from June 30 to July 3, 2025.
Vice President Latheef’s participation in the dinner with the Spanish monarchs reflects the Maldives’ active role on the global stage and underscores the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties through international forums.
The Vice President also attended the official opening of the FfD4 conference.
The session began with the election of the Prime Minister of Spain as President of the Conference and featured high-level statements from leaders of major United Nations bodies.
The general debate followed, where heads of delegations presented their countries’ financial development achievements and future strategies.
The four-day conference will also include side events and multistakeholder roundtables addressing critical topics such as reforming the global financial system and enhancing international development cooperation.
Vice President Latheef is expected to participate in several key engagements throughout the event.
