President Dr. Muizzu praises Türkiye’s support for Palestine, welcomes broader bilateral cooperation
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has praised Türkiye’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, reaffirming the Maldives’ shared commitment to advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people.
His remarks were made during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye at the President’s Office this morning.
The visiting delegation included members of the Türkiye–Maldives Interparliamentary Friendship Group.
President Muizzu warmly welcomed the group and expressed his appreciation for its multi-party composition, describing it as a testament to Türkiye’s vibrant political environment.
During the meeting, President acknowledged the strong and historic ties between the Maldives and Türkiye and underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration across various sectors.
He highlighted key areas of mutual interest, including trade, economic development, and people-to-people exchanges.
The President also briefed the delegation on the Maldives’ ongoing climate action priorities, which include economic reform, national adaptation planning, and investment in renewable energy.
The Turkish parliamentary delegation expressed interest in expanding cooperation in higher education, tourism, agriculture, and trade.
They also described the Maldives as a “brotherly Muslim nation” and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations based on shared values and mutual respect.
Both sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their intention to enhance the long-standing friendship between the Maldives and Türkiye through continued dialogue and cooperation.
