President Dr. Muizzu instructs full release of Yumnu inquiry report

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has instructed that the final report compiled by the presidential commission investigating the case of 21-year-old Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed be made public in its entirety.

Yumnu was found seriously injured on the rooftop of a building in Henveiru, Malé, on April 18.

In response to growing public concern, President Dr. Muizzu established a special commission on April 27 to carry out an independent and credible investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The commission was chaired by former Attorney General Dr. Mohamed Munavvar.

On Tuesday, the President received the commission’s completed report and announced via the social media platform X,

He wrote

The commission’s investigation included questioning key individuals involved in the case, including Raudh Ahmed Zilal, who was last seen with Yumnu.

Investigators also visited multiple locations connected to the case.

To ensure public engagement and transparency, the commission had previously launched a dedicated online portal allowing citizens to submit information, photos, videos, and documents related to the case, as well as to raise queries regarding the commission’s work.
