Indian investors express keen interest in Maldives: Ambassador G. Balasubramanian
Indian investors are eager to explore new investment opportunities in the Maldives, according to Indian Ambassador to the Maldives, Shri G. Balasubramanian.
In an exclusive interview with local news outlet Vaguthu on Monday, Ambassador Balasubramanian emphasized the strength of bilateral relations between the two nations, noting that beyond political ties, people-to-people relations, trade, and economic cooperation are of paramount importance.
People should invest in the relationship between the two countries. That will benefit the people of both countries.

Highlighting India’s rapid growth in the investment sector, Ambassador Balasubramanian noted that Indian investors are not restricted from investing in the Maldives.
He added that Indian companies are already active in the country, including in the tourism sector where some resorts are operated by Indian firms.

During the meeting with President Muizzu, he said that Hanimaadhoo is an area that needs to be developed in agriculture, fisheries and tourism. Indian investors working in these sectors have recently visited Hanimaadhoo and other areas.

He said that after their visit, many investors have shown a strong interest in investing in the Maldives.
Proposed initiatives include floating solar power installations, floating resorts, and ventures in the fisheries sector, which have attracted considerable attention from Indian firms.
Ambassador Balasubramanian affirmed that Indian investors are looking forward to contributing to the economic development of the Maldives through diverse and sustainable projects.
