In celebration of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD), Ooredoo Maldives hosted a basic Artificial Intelligence (AI) training session for media professionals on Saturday.

The training was held under the banner of ‘Digital Maldives’, a long-standing initiative launched by Ooredoo a decade ago with the aim of promoting digital literacy and innovation across the nation.

During the session, participants were introduced to foundational concepts of AI, including its applications in media, ethical considerations, and responsible use.

The program fostered engaging discussions and idea exchanges on how AI can be effectively and ethically integrated into journalistic practices.

Ooredoo also used the platform to raise awareness about the role of AI in public life and highlighted the importance of educating communities on emerging technologies.

A special focus was given to the company’s own AI-powered chatbot, with insights shared on the design priorities and user-focused features incorporated into its development.

The training reaffirmed Ooredoo’s commitment to empowering the media sector and the wider community through technological education and innovation.
