Tourist arrivals in Maldives reach 884,802, marking 8.1% increase
The Maldives has welcomed 884,802 tourists so far this year, reflecting an 8.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Tourism.
As of May 10 last year, the total number of tourist arrivals stood at 818,341.
This year’s figures indicate steady progress toward the government’s annual target of attracting 2.2 million visitors by the end of 2025, surpassing the 2 million arrivals recorded in 2024.
China continues to lead as the top source market, contributing 11.4% of total arrivals, followed by Russia (10.8%), the United Kingdom (10.4%), Italy (8.9%), and Germany (7.7%).
Most tourists chose to stay in resorts, which attracted 626,920 visitors.
Guesthouses received 208,952 tourists, while hotels and safari vessels hosted 26,219 and 22,129 visitors, respectively.
Currently, the Maldives has 175 operational resorts offering 43,313 beds, alongside 832 guesthouses with a capacity of 14,260 beds.
The safari segment includes 158 vessels with 3,187 beds, and 16 hotels provide 2,310 beds.
The Tourism Ministry continues to monitor trends and expand infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of international visitors, maintaining the Maldives’ status as a leading global destination.
