MTCC introduces new bus route to improve access for Thalassaemia patients
In a move to ease transportation for thalassaemia patients, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has introduced a new bus route with stops at Orange Hiyaa in Hulhumalé, where a new Thalassaemia Center is set to open this week.
MTCC announced that its existing route, which operates between Hulhumalé Phase I and Phase II, will now include stops at Orange Hiyaa.
In addition, a newly designated route, ‘R15’, has also been launched to serve the same purpose from Male'. Route maps for both bus services have been published.
The new ‘R15’ route officially began operations at 13:30hrs on Monday, May 5.
The initiative aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enhance accessibility for thalassaemia patients and ensure they receive uninterrupted healthcare services.
MTCC has encouraged individuals seeking further details to contact the company through its hotline at 1650.
The new Thalassaemia Center at Orange Hiyaa, constructed under the supervision of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) is scheduled to open on May 8, in conjunction with World Thalassaemia Day.
The project was handed over to MNDF in March this year.
