Three new members have been appointed to the Presidential Commission tasked with investigating the fall of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed from a building in Malé.

The newly appointed members are

Moosa Murad (Malé Register No. 641)

Jabeen Mohamed (Moonimaage, Th. Veymandoo)

Aminath Eenas (H. Habaruge).

Aminath Eanas previously served as the President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives, while Jabeen Mohamed is currently the Nursing Director at Hulhumalé Hospital.

Dr Moosa Murad is a senior specialist consultant at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The Presidential Commission was established on April 27, 2025, to ensure an independent and credible investigation into the incident that occurred on April 18, involving a young woman found collapsed on a rooftop in Malé.

Initially, three members were appointed to the commission:

Dr Mohamed Munavvar, G. Hassankaarige (President of the Commission)

Brigadier General (Retired) Ahmed Mohamed, V. Almaan

Dr Mohamed Habeeb, Seesanmaage, S. Hithadhoo

The new appointments follow the resignation of Dr Mohamed Habeeb, who according to sources stepped down after concerns were raised over his familial ties to Raudh Ahmed Zilal, the sole individual arrested in connection with the case.

Notably, the inclusion of two female members comes after public concerns were voiced regarding the lack of female representation on the commission.
