Police seek arrest warrant for Raudh in investigation into woman’s rooftop fall
Police have applied for a court warrant to arrest the man who was last seen with 21-year-old woman who was found injured on the rooftop of a warehouse in Malé, on the morning of Friday, April 18.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Thursday, and police had earlier confirmed that both the woman and the man, identified as Raudh Ahmed Zilal, tested positive for cannabis.
Authorities have already seized Raudh’s phone and passport under a court order.
According to police, the woman was discovered around 7:23 a.m. on the rooftop of a warehouse next to H. Fentenoy.
Investigations revealed she fell through a skylight located in the ninth-floor stairwell of the adjacent building.
While her injuries are serious, police have stated that there is no evidence of foul play or that she was pushed.
The timeline of events leading up to the incident spans multiple locations throughout the night.
The 21 year old was initially part of a group of eight—five men and three women—who arrived at a residence in central Malé around 12:30 a.m., and left at approximately 3:40 a.m. Four individuals from the group, including the injured woman and Raudh, then went to a second house on Ameenee Magu, staying for around 10 minutes.
Shortly after, the woman and Raudh were seen entering a third house on Buruzu Magu, later identified as H. Fentenoy, a property police say has no known connection to either of them.
It is believed that she fell between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
During the press conference, police also disclosed the identities of all individuals involved in the case and confirmed that passports of all parties, including Raudh, have been confiscated as the investigation continues.
