Two senior officials affiliated with the President’s Office have been removed from their positions following allegations of involvement in a drug-fueled party that preceded the fall of a young woman from a building.

On Thursday morning, Heena Waleed, Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, announced via X that Izdhiyaan Mohamed Maumoon, Under Secretary for Strategic Communications, had been fired from his post.

She further stated that Dhaudh Ahmed, Chairman of the National Youth Advisory Committee, had been dismissed from the committee by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu after he resigned from his role.

However, Daudh was only suspended without pay from his other role as Under Secretary for Digital Strategy.

The actions follow a police investigation into a party where illegal substances were reportedly used prior to a woman who attended the party fell onto a rooftop.

Police confirmed that both Izdhiyaan and Daudh were among the attendees.

The incident is linked to the case of a 21-year-old woman who was found injured on the rooftop of a warehouse in Male' City around 7:23 a.m. on Friday, April 18.

Police say the woman fell through a skylight from the ninth-floor stairwell of an adjacent building.

No evidence of foul play was found, but she had been “partying” with eight others, five men and three women prior to the fall.

The police have disclosed the identities of all individuals involved and also released CCTV footage from the lead-up to the woman’s fall.

The investigation remains ongoing.
