President Dr.Muizzu meets TikTok executives to explore digital cooperation
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with senior executives from TikTok this morning to discuss potential areas of collaboration aimed at advancing the Maldives’ digital transformation.
In a post shared by the President’s Office on X, it was revealed that the meeting covered a broad range of topics, focusing on cooperation between the government and the global social media platform.
During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu presented his vision for the digitalisation of the Maldives, highlighting the importance of integrating global platforms into the country’s development strategies.
The TikTok delegation, in turn, shared how the platform could contribute to achieving this vision.
Both parties expressed optimism regarding future collaboration.
The government had earlier announced that they are exploring ways to help Maldivians generate revenue through TikTok, which has become a major source of income for content creators globally.
As the most widely used social media application in the Maldives, TikTok holds considerable potential for digital entrepreneurship in the country.
Despite its popularity, the platform has faced criticism concerning how it is used by some Maldivians, sparking discussions around responsible digital engagement.
