Pakistan-Maldives relations are based on common beliefs and respect: Ambassador
The High Commission of Pakistan in Maldives marked Pakistan Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony and a grand Iftar dinner reception, attended by Maldivian dignitaries, diplomats, and the Pakistani community.
The celebrations began with a Flag Hoisting Ceremony at the High Commission, where H.E. Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi, High Commissioner of Pakistan, raised the national flag.
Messages from Pakistan’s leadership were shared, emphasizing the significance of the Pakistan Resolution.
The High Commissioner paid tribute to the sacrifices of the country’s forefathers and expressed solidarity with the people of Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine.
The event concluded with prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity.
In the evening, a formal Iftar dinner reception was held, with Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, as the Chief Guest.
The event was attended by senior Maldivian officials, diplomats from various countries, and the Pakistani community.
A cake-cutting ceremony was conducted by the Foreign Minister, the High Commissioner, and Maldivian Cabinet Ministers.
Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of both Pakistan and Maldives to deepening bilateral relations.
He emphasized the shared strategic vision of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, which focuses on cooperation across various sectors, including education, healthcare, trade, defense, climate action, and maritime security.
He also highlighted key contributions of Pakistan, such as the construction of the People’s Majlis (Parliament) building and the establishment of the Maldives' first medical college, from which the first batch of students recently graduated.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and the implementation of UN resolutions on Palestine and IIOJK.
Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, in his address, extended warm congratulations to the people and leadership of Pakistan.
He acknowledged Pakistan’s invaluable contributions to the development of Maldives, particularly in health, education, and defense.
Expressing confidence in the continued strengthening of bilateral ties, he highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations, founded on shared values and mutual respect.
