Three Immigration officers remanded over expat exploitation probe
Authorities have remanded three immigration officers in custody following their arrest over allegations of exploiting foreign nationals.
The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected misconduct by immigration employees.
According to the police, the case came to light after reports surfaced of certain immigration officials taking undue advantage of foreigners.
In response, law enforcement launched an operation that led to the arrest of three individuals.
Two of the officers have been remanded for 10 days, while the third was ordered to remain in custody for three days.
In connection with the case, former Immigration Controller Shamaan Waheed has also been arrested.
A court has remanded him for 15 days as investigations continue.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the nature of the alleged offenses, but the case remains under active investigation.
