National carrier Maldivian has announced plans to introduce Airbus A320 flights to Addu City, with operations set to begin on April 10.

The airline will operate two weekly flights, scheduled for Thursdays and Saturdays.

Currently, Maldivian operates daily flights to Addu City using smaller aircraft.

The airline has previously used the A320 for flights to Gan International Airport in Addu City.

The Airbus A320 has a seating capacity of 138 passengers, offering increased capacity for travelers.

Maldivian has been expanding its fleet, including the recent addition of an Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft on January 6.

The A330 has already commenced flights to Chengdu, China, with more routes to other Chinese cities planned in the near future.

The airline also aims to introduce wide-body aircraft flights to various European destinations.
