Shaheedh appointed as Justice of the Supreme Court
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed S. Hithadhoo, Baazeege, Hussain Shaheedh as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Maldives.
The appointment ceremony took place at the President’s Office, where Justice Aisha Shujune Muhammad administered the oath of office.
Following the oath-taking, President Dr. Muizzu officially presented the appointment letter to Justice Shaheedh.
A distinguished legal professional, Shaheedh has previously served as the Chief Judge of the High Court and as a Justice at the Criminal Court.
He pursued higher education in Sharia and law at Al-Azhar University in Egypt and Kulliyatu al-Dirasat al-Islamiyyah.
His academic credentials include a Master of Islamic Judicial Science, Sharia Policy, and Jurisprudence and Law, LLB from the Islamic University of Maldives.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended three Supreme Court judges following the launch of a criminal investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
One of the suspended judges, Husnu Al Suood, resigned after the investigation commenced.
Suood also made serious allegations regarding external influence on the judiciary.
