Maldives Customs Service has confiscated over 2,000 vapes and vaping equipment that were being smuggled into the country from Malaysia.

The items were discovered concealed in the luggage of three passengers arriving from Malaysia yesterday.

The seized goods included 1,714 Nano sticks, 200 Terea sticks, 96 Caliburn cartridges, 50 Vmate cartridges, and 2 vape flavor bottles.

This latest seizure follows a similar one earlier this Ramadan, where 400 vapes were intercepted entering the Maldives via a sea route.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.

Maldives imposed a ban on the import, sale, free distribution, and use of vaping devices and e-cigarettes on December 15, 2024.

To support individuals wishing to quit smoking, the government has also set up Smoking Cessation Clinics.

Those in need of assistance can reach out through the dedicated helpline at 1676.
