The International Aid Campaign (IAC) has announced plans to host a special Ramadan iftar in Gaza, Palestine, dedicated from the Maldives and its people.

The iftar, set to take place next Friday, aims to serve at least 1,000 people in Gaza.

The cost of providing one meal for a fasting individual has been set at MVR 85, and the IAC has called for donations to support the initiative, encouraging contributions of this amount or more.

Those wishing to donate can transfer their contributions to the following account:

Account Number: 7770000062740

Account Name: International Aid Campaign Account

Label: Seasonal Projects

Donors are requested to send their transfer slips to 9122121 after making the payment.

The IAC noted that project prices include an average of 12.5 percent, covering estimated costs for project operations, maintenance, sustainment, administrative operations, and development.

The Maldivian people have long demonstrated unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, standing in solidarity with Gaza.

This support has been met with gratitude from the people of Palestine, and Maldivians are widely recognized as some of the most vocal advocates for Palestinian independence on the global stage.

Describing the upcoming iftar as a historic event, the IAC expressed hope that it would be a moment of pride for the Maldivian nation and called on the public to participate generously.

The IAC is known for its significant humanitarian efforts, providing aid and support to Muslim communities in Gaza and beyond.

In the midst of these preparations, concerns over worsening conditions in Gaza have intensified after Israel blocked the entry of aid shipments on Sunday.

This followed the end of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian group Hamas, heightening fears of increased hunger and hardship as the holy month of Ramadan begins.
