Foreign workers' biometric data collection to continue in North Harbor during Ramadan
The Ministry of Homeland Security & Technology has announced that biometric registration for foreigners will take place in the North Harbor area during Ramadan.
As part of a special initiative, the ministry will conduct fingerprint and photograph verification of foreign workers, particularly those employed in the Greater Malé area.
The process aims to streamline documentation for employers and will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during Ramadan and Shawwal, with additional evening sessions from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The registration will be conducted at the Shot Harbor Restaurant area in North Harbor.
Earlier this week, Minister of Homeland Security & Technology, Ali Ihusan, revealed that since November 17, the government has regularized 40,000 foreign workers.
He also noted that biometric data of 77,000 foreigners living in the Maldives has been collected so far as part of the government’s broader efforts to formalize foreign employment and strengthen national security.
