Nasheeds confirm his candidacy for MDP's presidential primaries
MDP President Mohamed Nasheed on Sunday announced his candidacy for MDP's party presidential primary.
The party's presidential primaries are set to be held next year on 28th January. Nasheed announced in a tweet that he would be consisting the primary.
I've made the decision to run for president in the party's primary. I hope to receive votes from every party member.

MDP has asked its members who want to contest in the primary, to submit their nomination papers by 4 pm on Saturday, December 24, 2022, with the support of 500 members of the party who support their candidature in the primary.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also expressed interest in running for re-election and has also said he plans to participate in the primary. The president hasn't stated this, though, as of yet.
Nasheed and President Solih's relationship had deteriorated by the time he declared his intention to compete in the primary. The two politicians undertook peace discussions before to the primary elections. These discussions, though, have not resulted in a solution.
