Two foreign nationals detained for prostitution in Maldives; one deported
Maldivian authorities have apprehended two foreign nationals for their alleged involvement in a prostitution racket.
The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by Maldives Immigration and the Maldives Police Service, aimed at identifying expatriates engaged in large-scale prostitution networks.
According to Immigration, the individuals arrested are:
- Geetha Kumarasamy, 39, an Indian national, accused of working as a prostitute.
- Chhatra Bahadur Waji, 52, a Nepalese national, accused of acting as an agent.
Following the investigation, Kumarasamy was deported, while authorities are currently in the process of deporting Waji.
