Maldives condemns Israeli PM’s call for Palestinian state in Saudi territory
The Government of the Maldives has strongly condemned recent remarks made by the Israeli Prime Minister, calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state within the territory of Saudi Arabia.
The Maldives described the statement as irresponsible and provocative, emphasizing that it threatens Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
In a statement by foreign ministry today, the Maldivian government reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and categorically rejected any attempts to undermine its sovereignty.
The Maldives also stressed that such remarks constitute a clear violation of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Reiterating its steadfast support for Palestinian rights, the Maldives reaffirmed its position in favor of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The government called on the international community to take a firm stance against statements that destabilize the region.
Saudi Arabia has also rejected the Israeli Prime Minister’s remarks, asserting that the Palestinian state is Palestine and that Israel has no right to redefine its status.
