Former Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohamed Rishwan has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL). 

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) confirmed his appointment as the MD and Board Director.

Rishwan takes over the role from Mohamed Wajeeh, whose dismissal on February 2 was not accompanied by an official reason.

Rishwan has an extensive background in both law enforcement and administration. 

He served in Maldives Police Service, where he filled the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police and retired in 2011 during the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Following his tenure in the police force, Rishwan served as both Deputy CEO and CEO of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in the former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.
