Maldivian flights to China commences; 192 tourists on the first flight
The national airline of Maldives, Maldivian has successfully resumed direct flights from China to the Maldives, marking a significant milestone with the first flight from Chengdu to Velana International Airport.
The flight, which carried 192 passengers, was operated using the airline's new Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft, which boasts a seating capacity of 260 passengers across business, premium economy, and economy classes.
The airline now offers flights to three major Chinese cities: Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai.
To celebrate the launch, Maldivian Airlines has introduced a special fare promotion.
Aminath Sameeha, the General Manager of Reservation and Ticketing at Maldivian Holidays, announced that tickets are currently being offered at a discount of 30% to 50% off the market price.
Additionally, travelers have the flexibility to fly into one Chinese city and return from another, providing more convenience and options for their travel plans.
Currently, the airline operates three flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The ticket price for a round trip between Chengdu and Male’ is USD 688.
Flights to Beijing will commence on January 24th, with return tickets priced at USD 788 (MVR 12,151).
Services to Shanghai will begin on January 27th, with return tickets available for USD 777 (MVR 11,981).
