Maldives Police Service (MPS) has taken significant steps to enhance its operational and investigative capabilities by signing agreements with leading Indian training centers.

A senior MPS delegation, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan, along with Superintendent of Police Sultan Ahmed Bishar, Chief Inspector of Police Ibrahim Faiz and Inspector of Police Mohamed Isham, visited India from January 12 to 17 to formalize the partnerships.

The agreements focus on providing advanced training in special investigations, cyber forensics, and intelligence.

They also pave the way for the establishment of a world-class forensic laboratory in the Maldives.

During the visit, the delegation engaged with prominent institutions, including the National Police Academy (NPA) in Hyderabad, the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Gujarat, and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU).

These collaborations aim to enhance the curriculum of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement (NCPLE) through accreditation, teacher exchange programs, and technical assistance.

Notably, NFSU has proposed to establish a campus in the Maldives and support the development of a state-of-the-art digital forensic laboratory.

RRU has also committed to providing scholarships for five MPS officers and offering high-level training in financial crimes and maritime security.

These agreements mark a pivotal move towards modernizing the MPS, improving police standards, and bolstering investigative capacity.
