Moomina Waheed approved as HRCM Vice President by Parliament
The Parliament has approved Moomina Waheed as the Vice President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).
The approval followed a letter sent to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu requesting her appointment, which was announced during a parliamentary meeting on the 16th of this month.
The matter was reviewed by the relevant committee, whose report was presented and debated during today’s session.
A vote was subsequently taken, with 67 members unanimously supporting Moomina’s appointment, no members voted against the decision.
Moomina has been a member of the HRCM since 2020, having been appointed during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
