We need to digitize public services: President Dr. Muizzu

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has outlined his vision to fully digitize the Maldives' public service sector, drawing inspiration from Estonia, a global leader in e-governance. 

Concluding his historic visit to Estonia, President Dr. Muizzu emphasized the need to modernize public services and create a comprehensive digital archive from decades of paper-based records.

The President praised Estonia’s achievement of fully digitized public services, highlighting its potential as a model for the Maldives. 

“I want to digitize all public services, a 100% of government services”

President Dr. Muizzu said

He stressed that transitioning to digital services would improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for Maldivians.

President Dr. Muizzu also underlined his commitment to expanding the Maldivian economy through advancements in the digital sector. 

“I have set, by 2030, that the digital economy will continue to develop and account for at least 15% of our GDP over the next five years”

President Dr. Muizzu said


To this end, three key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the visit, focusing on collaboration in digitalization, environmental sustainability, and political dialogue.
