Government of Maldives has expressed gratitude to India for its crucial assistance in addressing financial challenges.

This sentiment was reiterated during official talks held in New Delhi between Maldives’ Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel and Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

The discussions expanded on the topics addressed between the leaders during the state visit of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to India in October 2024.

Both ministers emphasized their countries’ shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors.

Key topics of discussion included the status of Indian-funded projects under grant and loan arrangements, as well as avenues for enhancing economic, trade, and investment relations.

Minister Khaleel extended his government’s appreciation for India’s continued support in promoting Maldives’ social and economic development.

The two ministers also agreed on the importance of deepening cooperation on mutual priorities, both bilaterally and within the global arena.

This collaboration was further formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the third phase of High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP).

Under the MoU, the third phase of projects that will directly benefit the people will be launched.
