MACL requests travelers to arrive at VIA 3 hours early for departures tomorrow

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has issued a public advisory urging passengers departing from Velana International Airport to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled flight departure.

In a press release issued today, MACL warned of significant traffic congestion expected in the roads and terminal areas of the airport tomorrow, coinciding with the arrival of Umrah pilgrims.

“Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to their scheduled departure to ensure a smooth travel experience,”

MACL advised

The advisory also called upon taxi centers and drivers to support efforts to manage the anticipated rush by ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off services.

Drivers were specifically requested to maintain traffic flow in and around the airport premises to minimize disruptions.

Peak times on Friday:

1. 06:00 am to 09:00 am in the morning.

Expected arrivals: 2,678 (including 618 umrah pilgrims)

Expected departures: 1,372

2. 02:00 pm to 04:00 pm in the afternoon

Expected arrivals: 2,071 (including 452 umrah pilgrims)

Expected departures: 1,091
