Renowned presenter Namza appointed PSM Chairperson
Aminath Namza, a deputy minister at the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, has been appointed as the chairperson of Public Service Media (PSM).
Her appointment, announced by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Monday, comes shortly after the state broadcaster named a new managing director.
The position of PSM chairperson had been vacant since January last year, following the end of Ibrahim Hilmy’s tenure.
Namza has extensive experience in public service and media.
She previously served as the head of foreign relations at the Ministry of Education during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Additionally, she worked as a presenter for PSM for several years, further strengthening her ties to the broadcaster.
Her appointment coincides with that of Ibrahim Nasreen, who was recently named managing director of PSM, succeeding Mohamed Saeed.
Saeed stepped down last week, making Nasreen the third managing director appointed within the past year.
