Russia’s importance to the Maldivian tourism sector is underscored by its position as the second-largest source market.

As of Saturday, the Maldives had recorded 216,092 tourist arrivals from Russia this year, accounting for 11 percent of total arrivals.

Idamkin’s appointment is expected to further cement the already strong ties between the two nations, with a focus on tourism and economic collaboration.
