Maldives extends Aasandha coverage to UAE, Thailand with three new hospitals
The Maldivian state health insurance provider, Aasandha, has signed agreements to extend its coverage to three international hospitals, broadening access to high-quality medical services for Maldivians.
On Tuesday, Aasandha signed agreements with Burjeel Medical City in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and two prominent hospitals in Thailand—World Medical Hospital and Bangkok Hospital.
Aasandha’s Managing Director, Aminath Zeeniya, represented the organization at the signing ceremony.
Coverage under the new agreements will begin on January 15, with services offered under special policies, according to an official statement from Aasandha.
This development fulfills part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to expand Aasandha services to countries offering superior healthcare.
Speaking at Velana International Airport on January 13, following a state visit to China, President emphasized the need to provide access to better medical care abroad.
The President also revealed plans to include accommodation costs under Aasandha coverage.
Currently, Aasandha covers medical expenses in select facilities in Sri Lanka and India.
The addition of these three hospitals is a significant step toward fulfilling President's pledge to expand international healthcare options for Maldivians.
