55 foreign protestors will face action after investigation: Controller General
Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamaan Waheed, has stated that action will be taken against 55 foreigners detained for protesting in Malé’s Green Zone, following the completion of an investigation.
The protest, held near the presidential palace Muliaage, reportedly centered on unpaid wages.

Police have handed over 55 foreigners who protested in the Green Zone today. The case is being investigated, and action will be taken once the investigation is complete.

He highlighted that the Labor Relations Authority is involved in the case, working at the Immigration Detention Center where the detained foreign workers have claimed their rights were violated.
Shamaan emphasized that all individuals residing in the Maldives under Immigration permits must adhere to local laws, warning that violations will be dealt with under the Immigration Act.
The Maldives Police Service confirmed the detention of 55 individuals, comprising 38 Indians and 17 Bangladeshis, but did not disclose the company involved.
