He further emphasized that upholding international law and ensuring justice for the Palestinian people are critical to achieving peace in the region.

The ICC, headquartered in The Hague, issued the arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant for the war crimes from "atleast 8 October 2023 until atleast 20 May 2024", the day prosecution filed applications for warrant of arrest.

According to the court, there are “reasonable grounds” to believe the Israeli leaders are criminally responsible for acts including “starvation as a method of warfare” and “the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”

The ICC, as the world’s only independent tribunal addressing war crimes and crimes against humanity, depends on the cooperation of member states to enforce its rulings.

Without its own enforcement mechanisms, the court relies on countries to carry out arrests, freeze suspects’ assets, and ensure compliance with its decisions.
