PNC confirms timely progress on Israeli passport ban bill
The Progressive National Congress (PNC) has reiterated that the proposed amendment to the Immigration Act, which includes a ban on Israeli passports, will proceed on schedule without delays.
This statement released today, comes in response to a resolution tabled by the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in Parliament on November 12, claiming that the legislative process for the bill was stagnant.
The resolution, presented by MDP MP Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu), was rejected by the PNC-majority Parliament during yesterday's session, drawing significant criticism.
In the subsequent statement, the PNC dismissed the resolution as an attempt by the MDP to disrupt parliamentary proceedings.
The PNC PG Group rejected the resolution because we believe it was not driven by good intentions but was instead aimed at wasting valuable time in Parliament
