Aasandha services to launch in UAE and Thailand soon, launch date imminent: Heena
The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) CEO, Heena Waleed, has announced that the launch date for Aasandha services in the United Arab Emirates and Thailand will be revealed soon.
During her address to the Parliament’s Social Affairs Committee today, Heena noted that discussions are ongoing with hospitals in these countries to finalize arrangements, fulfilling President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s promise to expand the national healthcare scheme.
It is a pledge made by the President to extend Aasandha services to the UAE and Thailand. Preparations are in progress, and details, including the launch timeline, will be disclosed shortly,
Heena stated
She highlighted that talks with hospitals in both countries have advanced significantly, with clear pathways now being mapped out for implementation.
President Dr. Muizzu had initially announced the plan earlier this year after his state visit to China.
Speaking to reporters at the time, he emphasized his commitment to ensuring access to high-quality medical care abroad, particularly in countries renowned for advanced healthcare services such as Thailand and the UAE.
The President had also expressed his intention to broaden Aasandha’s scope to cover accommodation costs for citizens traveling to these destinations for medical treatment.
Until our local healthcare services are significantly improved, our citizens will have access to premier medical facilities in destinations like Dubai and Bangkok, with accommodation expenses included under Aasandha
he remarked.
Currently, Aasandha services are available at selected hospitals in India and in the Maldives.
This planned expansion is expected to reduce financial burdens on patients while offering access to world-class healthcare facilities abroad.
