Maldivian arrested in Bangkok during drug seizure
A Maldivian man has been arrested in Bangkok for possessing 2.9 kilograms of drugs concealed in a protein supplement bottle.
According to Bangkok-based newspapers, the individual was detained while attempting to collect a package containing mephedrone from a courier facility.
The package had reportedly been sent from the United Kingdom.
Thai authorities have not disclosed the suspect's identity, citing an ongoing investigation by the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) to uncover other individuals involved in the smuggling network.
In addition to mephedrone, Thai police recovered various other substances during their operations, including MDMA, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine, and newer drug types that are increasingly being found among seized items.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to dismantle the network linked to the suspect.
