Maldives neuro endocrine facility and partners drive diabetes awareness in Laamu atoll
To mark World Diabetes Day, a three-day awareness campaign was launched in Laamu Atoll in collaboration with the L. Gan Regional Hospital, Kulunu Medical, Belarus Maldives Cultural Center, State Trading Organization (STO), and the Maldives Neuro Endocrine Medical Facility.
The initiative brought together a distinguished team, including Professor Oleg Kryvalapau, Head of Belarus State Genetic, Reproductive, and Fertility Center, and Ms. Alesia Samuilava, Resident Representative of the Belarus Maldives Cultural Center. Maldivian specialists Dr. Ahmed Rasheed (Head of Neurology, IGMH), Dr. Ali Niyaf (Head of Neurosurgery, IGMH), Dr. Mohamed Wisham (Endocrinologist, Maldives Neuro Endocrine Medical Facility), and Dr. Ihudhaulla Saeed (Neurologist, Maldives Neuro Endocrine Medical Facility) also participated.
During the campaign, the team engaged with island and atoll councils to identify strategies for promoting healthy living and organized technical sessions for medical professionals at Gan Regional Hospital.
They also conducted consultations and delivered public health awareness sessions for residents of L. Fonadhoo and L. Gan.
The campaign emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing diabetes and fostering healthier communities in the Maldives.
