Parliament approves three ministers following cabinet reshuffle
The Maldivian Parliament has approved the appointments of three ministers following a recent Cabinet reshuffle initiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Government Oversight Committee gave the green light after a review of each nominee’s qualifications and records.
As part of the reshuffle, former Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has been reassigned as Finance Minister, while Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, previously Health Minister, has taken up the position of Foreign Minister.
Additionally, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, who previously served as Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy, has been appointed as the new Health Minister.
The reshuffle was announced by the President on September 30, with the official nominations sent to Parliament’s Government Oversight Committee for review on October 14.
During its meeting on October 24, the committee examined the nominees, seeking input from the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Judicial Administration, and the Maldives Correctional Service, all of whom raised no objections.
After a thorough review, the committee found no issues with the nominees and unanimously endorsed all three ministerial appointments.
The Parliament ratified the committee’s decision, officially confirming the new appointments.
