Parliament approves Sareer as the ambassador to Saudi Arabia
The People's Majlis has approved the appointment of Ahmed Sareer as the Maldivian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
Sareer received unanimous approval from the 86 members who voted in today's session.
The letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu requesting Sareer's appointment as the Saudi Ambassador, following the transfer of the previous ambassador Mohamed Taha to Pakistan, was read in the People's Majlis session held on the 15th of this month.
Subsequently, the matter was sent to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Majlis for review on the same day.
Sareer has previously held various positions in the Maldivian foreign service and different levels of positions in Maldivian diplomatic missions.
Sareer, who previously served as Foreign Secretary, has also held the positions of Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the UN and Ambassador of the Maldives to the United States.
