Pakistani High Commission in Maldives observes Kashmir Black Day
The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Maldives, based in Hulhumalé Phase 1, commemorated a significant day in Pakistan’s history, Kashmir Black Day with an event highlighting Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir issue and honoring the resilience of the people in the region.
Mr. Zulqurnain Ahmad, Deputy Head of Mission, warmly welcomed the attendees, which included a large gathering from the Pakistani community.
Vice Admiral (R) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani, High Commissioner, addressed the gathering, emphasizing Pakistan’s enduring commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The High Commissioner emphasized the significance of Kashmir Black Day, condemning decades of atrocities by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and honoring the sacrifices of Kashmiris in their struggle for self-determination.
He highlighted India’s ongoing violation of UN Security Council resolutions, which mandate a plebiscite to decide Jammu and Kashmir’s future.
The High Commissioner also expressed solidarity with Palestinians facing violence in Gaza, urging immediate international intervention to protect innocent lives and stressing the need for urgent resolutions for both Kashmir and Palestine to ensure global peace and human rights.
Special prayers were offered for the freedom of Kashmir and Palestine during the conclusion of the event.
