Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal has announced that investor forums will be held in Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, and India during the first and second quarters of next year as part of the government's efforts to expand tourism in the northern province.

The minister shared this during a parliamentary session, in response to a question by Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyad regarding the government's strategy to increase tourist accommodations in the region before the completion of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport.

Minister Faisal confirmed that the construction of Hanimaadhoo airport is expected to be completed by March next year, marking a significant milestone for the region.

He emphasized that special initiatives have already been launched to develop tourism in the area, including the opening of land for tourism investment.

The minister noted that 15 hectares of land in Vaikaradhoo Muraidhoo have already been leased for tourism development after evaluation by the Ministry of Tourism.

Currently, 460 tourist beds are registered in the northern province, with three additional areas under development, bringing the total number of beds to approximately 1,800.

To further promote investment in the region, Minister Faisal highlighted the success of previous forums, including one held in Dubai last February during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit, where information about islands designated for tourism development was shared with potential investors.

Similar information was also presented at forums in Delhi and Mumbai during President Muizzu's official visit to India.

The minister confirmed that the upcoming investor forums planned for next year will continue to promote these tourism opportunities, attracting further investment to the province.
