Customs seizes 1.86 kg of drugs from Maldivian arriving from Bangkok

Maldives Customs has seized a significant quantity of drugs from the luggage of a passenger arriving in the Maldives.

According to Customs, the items were confiscated on October 19, 2024, following a thorough search of a 33-year-old Maldivian male passenger who had arrived by air from Bangkok

The suspected drugs, found concealed in the passenger's luggage, were tested by customs officials and confirmed to be mephedrone.

The total weight of the drugs, including packaging, was 1.86 kg, with an estimated street value of MVR 3,348,000.00.

Following the seizure, both the drugs and the passenger were handed over to the Maldivian Police Service for further investigation.

The authorities have not yet disclosed additional details as the investigation progresses.
