Maldivian student wins third place at International Quran Competition in Malaysia
Fathimath Shaya Zahir, a Maldivian student, has earned third place in Hifz category in the prestigious 64th Malaysian International Quran Recitation and Memorization Assembly (MTHQA), held in Kuala Lumpur from October 5th to 12th.
The event featured 92 participants from 71 countries according to Department of Islamic Development Malaysia who organized the event.
Shaya's remarkable achievement was praised by many, including Maldives' Islamic Minister, Dr. Mohammed Shaheem Ali Saeed, who congratulated her on social media.

The annual competition was inaugurated on October 5th by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Shaya has a history of excelling in Quran competitions.
In April last year, she won second place in an international competition held in Egypt, where she received her award from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Additionally, she secured first place in the Hafiz category at the national Quran competition this year.
Shaya memorized the entire Quran at the age of 10 and currently studies at Iskandhar School in Male'.
Shaya’s continued success in Quran competitions serves as an inspiration to many young Maldivians.
