The Bank of Maldives has extended its support to the annual ‘Pink Ribbon Run-Walk’ organized by the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM).

Held at Hulhumale’ Central Park today and across 11 islands, the event saw over 2,400 participants come together to raise awareness about breast cancer and promote early detection.

According to BML, as a part of its commitment to cancer awareness, the Bank donated MVR 200,000 to CSM, which will help fund initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness and providing psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families.

The Bank of Maldives has been a long-standing supporter of CSM and the Pink Ribbon Run-Walk since 2016.

The event aligns with the global efforts to raise awareness during October, which is observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The theme for World Breast Cancer Day in 2024, "No one should face breast cancer alone," highlights the importance of comprehensive patient-centred care, including emotional, psychological, and social support.
