President Dr. Muizzu invites Indian investors to boost Maldives’ digital economy

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on Indian investors to explore opportunities in the Maldives’ growing digital economy and artificial intelligence sector, as the country aims to make its digital economy account for 15 percent of its GDP by 2030. 

Speaking at the Business Forum in Bangalore on Wednesday, during his official state visit to India, President Dr,Muizzu highlighted the Maldives' strategic location and dynamic workforce.

By investing in the Maldives, you can leverage our strategic location, young and dynamic workforce, and supportive government policies aimed at fostering technological growth

He stated

President also emphasized the Maldives' vulnerability to climate change and stressed the need for renewable energy solutions.

He urged Indian investors to collaborate in these efforts, saying,

 By leveraging India’s expertise and technological advancements in renewable energy, together we can create a sustainable future that benefits both our nations.

He reiterated the Maldives’ commitment to climate action and multilateralism, aligning with the country’s vision for global cooperation to address challenges like climate change, technological integration, and economic inclusivity. 

Additionally, the President discussed the Maldives’ Creative Economic Strategy, which aims to invigorate technology-driven industries and the arts.

He also highlighted the importance of healthcare investments, noting that more investment is required to meet future healthcare demands.

President concluded by emphasizing the Maldives' ideal location for Indian investments due to its proximity and cultural ties.

He said 

President is currently on his first official state visit to India, during which he met with Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other senior officials.

He also attended the India-Maldives Business Forum in both New Delhi and Mumbai and the Maldivian community residing in both the places.

The visit will conclude on Thursday when President returns to the Maldives.
