No agreement with India will undermine Maldives' sovereignty: President Dr. Muizzu
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has firmly stated that no agreement that can undermine the sovereignty of the country has been signed with India.
Speaking to the Maldivian community in Bangalore on Wednesday, as part of his ongoing official visit to India, President addressed concerns about foreign military presence in the country.

He emphasized that through diplomatic efforts and the close relationship between India and the Maldives, a permanent solution had been reached regarding the presence of Indian military personnel, who has now been replaced by civilians.
President addressed false rumors suggesting that foreign military forces might arrive in the Maldives, stating that these reports were misleading and intended to mock the government's foreign policy.
He clarified that the foreign policy his administration is following remains consistent with the policy announced during the presidential election campaign, putting the nation and its people first.

President Dr. Muizzu said
assuring that all agreements are made in alignment with national interests.
He further highlighted that the agreement states India will support in capacity building.
One key area of cooperation outlined in the agreement is India's support in hydrographic matters, which includes capacity building and training, tailored to the requirements of the Maldivian government.
President Dr. Muizzu arrived in Bangalore on Wednesday where he attended India-Maldives business forum and also met with the Maldivian community residing in Bangalore.
His first official visit to Bangalore is set to conclude today.
